Dorothy Kelly Fertility Reflexology, Dorothy Kelly Academy of Reflexology
We had a lovely girl here on Tuesday night at 41 weeks high transverse lie position; badly swollen hands, legs, ankles and feet; painful hip. I started off using Reflexology to assess the reproductives - pelvc girdle was not soft so I worked on this area to encourage relaxation and softening of the area - this should allow the head to drop into the pelvic area. Hip area was worked to balance this and ease pain. Endocrine area was worked to stimulate and balance the hormones. Lymphatic drainage tehniques were applied to encourage freedom of movement in the ankles and feet.
I then called Dave in to work where was required with Bowen & Emmett Techniques. The main areas where these helped was with the hip pain, baby positioning, oedema issues & the painful, swollen hands. Techniques used were mainly associated with inquinal psoas, leg balancing drainage around ankles & feet to give more movement. Client reported feeling tensional shifts as the baby changed position to a lower, more symmetrical head down position. There was also a reported change in the stiffness of feet & ankles with reduction in that 'tight' feeling. Finally Dave worked on the hands & forearms instantly bringing a great reduction in the symptoms. Veins were again visible in the forearms full pain free movement was returned to wrists & fingers. It is great to be able to see instantaneous results with these therapies, which are usually maintained as long as there is no recurrance of the causal factors.
